Coderr Community Server installation HTTP Error 502.5 - Process Failure

Liking what I see on the Coderr site and would love to see how we can utilise the server to better handle our errors.

Currently we have a couple of ASP.Net Forms websites that log errors to there own Elmah repository. We also have a mix of console applications and scripts that write errors to separate log files or databases.

I’ve downloaded the v2.0.1 release from

Hosting this on Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2016 database. Have installed the .Net Core runtimes and setup the IIS website.

However, when I browse to the website I get the following,

HTTP Error 502.5 - Process Failure

Common causes of this issue:
• The application process failed to start
• The application process started but then stopped
• The application process started but failed to listen on the configured port

Troubleshooting steps:
• Check the system event log for error messages
• Enable logging the application process' stdout messages
• Attach a debugger to the application process and inspect

Hope someone can give me some guidance on getting the server setup and running.

That error is typically for .NET Core failures before the web application is started.

Just to be sure, was it this one that you installed?

In web.config, can you change the following settings in web.config:

Make sure that the application pool have write access to that folder. Then look in the log file for errors.

You can also try dotnet run Coderr.Server.Web.dll in a command prompt and see if it displays a better error

Thanks for the quick reply Jonas.

I had a colleague review the installation and she found that the connection string was incorrectly formatted.

Once that was corrected everything went smoothly.
